Overwatch Geospatial Participates in GirlTech Program During GIS Day 2008, the Montana division of Overwatch Geospatial worked with spectrUM Discovery Area to teach kids about GIS and weather. The celebration included a grant award presentation that gave SpectrUM a chance to start GirlTech, a science education program aimed at getting and keeping girls involved in the sciences.
Last month, Overwatch sent a representative to share her career experiences in the high-tech field of GIS software development. During the visit, the group learned about GIS and Overwatch's role in it as a software development company.
GirlTech "has been a huge success and wildly popular," says Holly Truitt, co-director of spectrUM. The program is offered through spectrUM in partnership with the Flagship Program of Missoula, MT.
