Overwatch Geospatial attended the GeoINT conference in Nashville, TN, from Oct. 27-30. The conference showcased the range of Overwatch Geospatial products, with demos available for attendees. The GeoINT theme of maintaining mission focus while transitioning to the future was evident in the collaboration between two Textron subsidiaries--Overwatch Geospatial Operations and AAI Corporation.

Overwatch and AAI jointly exhibited an unmanned aerial vehicle, which AAI has been developing and testing for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. Pictures of the event and of the UAV are available here.

Students Learn About Weather for GIS Day
Students from Missoula's C.S. Porter Middle School learned about GIS and its use in weather during the 2008 GIS Day celebration at spectrUM. SpectrUM, a local, interactive science discovery center, and Overwatch Geospatial teamed up to promote GIS education on the weekly WeatherBus, a free thematic field trip transportation program that takes schoolchildren to and from the discovery area every Wednesday.

While on the bus, students learned what GIS is and how it plays a role in reporting the weather. After their arrival at the discovery area, students participated in activities that included a Google Earth demonstration, a video that illustrated different weather patterns and satellite images, and a game that highlighted the everyday uses of GIS.

This was Overwatch's first year of participation in GIS Day. Pictures of the event can be seen here.
