Overwatch Geospatial Systems partnered with spectrUM, a local interactive science center on The University of Montana campus, for GIS Day on November 19, 2008.

Overwatch joined spectrUM’s Weather Bus, a field trip program providing free transportation to and from the spectrUM Discovery Area. One hundred twenty students from C.S. Porter Middle School learned about GIS and its role in society, local weather and how it is part of a larger, global weather pattern, and how to participate in local science-related programs and activities. Upon their arrival at spectrUM, students participated in hands-on activities to complement what they heard on the bus.

Teachers whose classrooms participated in GIS Day were given extension packets to aid in the incorporation of GIS in the classroom. To see pictures of the event, click here. More information about spectrUM can be found on their website.
