Overwatch VLS would like to thank everyone who made the 2008 Overwatch Geospatial Users Conference a success. Attendees at the conference, held in Vienna, Virginia, had the opportunity to view the entire Overwatch geospatial product line and learn more about individual software solutions in training sessions. VLS also presented the AFE Analyst of the Year Award to Mike Diller, who has been using Feature Analyst to map illicit crop production. LIDAR Analyst 4.2 is available as an extension for ArcGIS. This recently-released version of the original commercially-available LIDAR (light detection and ranging) data processing software provides clients with an even more powerful solution to the problem of collecting 3D terrain and geospatial features from airborne LIDAR data.

Feature Analyst version 4.1, the latest edition of the award-winning software, named "Most Innovative Solution" by ESRI in 2002, is available for the following GIS software platforms: ArcGIS®, ERDAS IMAGINE®, GeoMedia®, and SOCET SET®.

VLS has issued an exciting new addition to its exceptional line of software extensions for ArcGIS®: Urban Analyst™. This software provides an outstanding interface for interactive 3D visualization. Urban Analyst provides a third set of map making tools that accentuates the positive aspects of its other software: Feature Analyst® and LIDAR Analyst®.

In a compelling case study, the USDA Forest Service recently presented an assessment of an 85,000-acre area identified as the core habitat for the red-cockaded woodpecker. A major tactic in this study involved using Feature Analyst to interpret aerial imagery of the forest ecosystems in order to examine the environment's suitability as the bird's habitat.
