Environmental Organizations Rely on LIDAR Analyst

Airborne LIDAR data allows large areas of precise data to be captured, ideal for assessing elevations for flood risk and other natural hazards. The LIDAR Analyst® software has been embraced by as the paramount solution for processing LIDAR data.

LIDAR Analyst provides detailed surface contours, characterization of vegetation, and watershed information. Environmental organizations have used the software to survey the topography of everything from ice sheets to beaches.

Organizations such as USGS, NASA, and NOAA have experienced great success in quantifying the severity of coastal change before and after extreme storms, for example, using the LIDAR data they acquired.

In geology and seismology, airborne LIDAR systems are used to detect faults, such as the Seattle Fault in Washington, U.S., as well as uplift, such as Mount St. Helens. Airborne LIDAR systems are also able to detect subtle amounts of growth or decline, as monitored on glaciers.
